Bicycle Parts Custom

Bicycle Parts Custom West Coast Chopper Bicycle Parts
A Personal Rememberance by John Allen, League Board Member

In 1972, I was halfway home with a flat tire and walked into a bike shop that was just closing. Sheldon stayed late to fix it. That's how I first met him.

There were 46 bicycles in or around his house "with a few shared wheels", by his recent count, mostly in his basement. He didn't buy bicycles off the shelf -- as a challenge to his mechanical ingenuity, and a way to spend less money and spend more time doing what he liked to do, he cobbled up customized bicycles from parts he acquired mostly through special deals, barter or secondhand, to suit himself or someone in his family. He often came up with a something unique, clever and useful. You may read about his bicycles on his Web site. He had an eye for style, but also, one or two rusty clunkers hung out by the back door getting rustier, for the quick ride to the convenience store, and several old hulks of bikes lived under the front porch.

I've caused a stir

If you ladle it out, you've got to take it, as the old saying goes.

My post yesterday has provoked 52 MPs (and counting) to sign the following Early Day Motion tabled by Peter Kilfoyle:

"THE REPORTING OF MR NICK ROBINSON That this House deplores the innuendo of the blog of Nick Robinson, the BBC's lobby correspondent; calls upon him to substantiate the imputations he makes in his blog concerning the Speaker and hon. Members; and also calls upon the BBC to publish a full, itemised account of the expenses of Mr Robinson, in the name of transparency and accountability of public funds."

Mr Kilfoyle posted his comments below yesterday's blog in which he describes as "outrageous" the suggestion that some MPs are too afraid to condemn the Speaker because he'd abuse his position in the chair to punish those that did.

War of the Wheels: Bicyclists vs Drivers

News 4 gets complaints all the time from drivers just sick of having to work around hoards of bicyclists taking over the streets and highways. We also hear from bicyclists scared for their lives because of impatient drivers. As News 4's Ryan O'Donnell explains, it is an all-out war on wheels.

Scroll to the bottom to leave your comment...

"I've probably been hit, probably total of eight times," says cyclist Aidan Vasquez.

News 4 talked with several San Antonio cyclists who have had near misses.

"I've had oranges thrown at me from cars coming towards me." adds cyclist Robert Dodd.

Cyclist Lloyd Hensley says he's had plenty of objects thrown at him. "You know, bottles or eggs or you know, what have you."

Several San Antonio drivers are also sharing their stories of road rage.

Our community needs an endocrinologist

There use to be a endocrinologist who had hours in Bloomington one day a week. The wait to get an appointment was months. Our GP recommanded the specialist. He could not determine the cause/condition. We choose Peoria due to shorter travel time. The endocrinologist was able to determine and treat the condition and work with an ophthalmologist. However, the monthly drives to Peoria, taking at least 1/2 day off work. Sometimes the whole day if we can get both Dr. appointment the same day. " .

Hip-Hop Rumors: Jay-Z As Frank Lucas? Rockers Got Jokes...

This was the frech duo that bested Kanye last year for best video. Anyway, they won again. They were cracking jokes, seemingly expecting Ye to show up. I heard they said, “Kanye, where are you?" and other comments of that nature. Justice's new song beat ‘Ye's “Stronger."

On top of that, I heard my girl Kelly Rowland said a lil' slickness about Kanye. From what I understand, she was the presenter of the award and she joked, “This is for best video…not most expensive one. You know I'm talking to you Kanye!" WOW! I thought Kelly was nicer than that!
